The best time to visit is late spring (May-June) and the summer months, when the climate in this part of France is at its most stable. Keep in mind that Paris is directly influenced by the Atlantic climate, so shifting air masses often bring clouds, and early spring and fall are frequently rainy. Winters here are mild, so perhaps the most romantic time to visit is during the Christmas festivities in December.
WHY PARIS?
A city of love, history, architecture, artists and fashion… Paris, a city filled with the aromas of world-famous French cuisine and the taste of fine French wines. For years it has been associated with love and lovers, earning it a reputation as the most romantic city in the world. A city that lives 24 hours a day, through its wild nights and bustling days… It’s impossible not to fall in love with it… Its people have style, its architecture is seductive and alluring, and its restaurants and nightlife guarantee maximum enjoyment… There is no single best time to visit. Winter nights are perfect for warming up on open-air ice rinks, and in spring the flower gardens beckon with their delicate scents… It is famous for the Place de la Concorde, the most beautiful square in the world, the Champs-Élysées, the Louvre, the Arc de Triomphe, Versailles, the Opéra Garnier, the Moulin Rouge and, of course, the Eiffel Tower… More than 30 bridges, 400 churches, 200 avenues, 100 boulevards, thousands of lavish palaces and dozens of parks… All this makes the city the world’s tourist mecca. It’s incredible how well the city has kept its spirit, its look and its sense of “joie de vivre”, despite all the people from different cultures who have passed through it and who still keep coming and going. Nonchalant and artistic on the one hand, elegant and refined, unbridled and excessive, grand and imposing, drunk and sober… That is Paris… It wears all its faces brilliantly, and every one of them suits it… Every visitor is surprised by the metro, which Parisians have turned into a true institution. The city authorities even hold special auditions for buskers and classical musicians who want to perform in metro stations, and for the lucky few who pass, this reference earns them a better shot when applying for a job with a more prestigious orchestra.
Paris has 1466 hotels and more than 76.000 rooms. Occupancy is close to 80%, which shows how high demand for accommodation is. Last year the hotel sector welcomed about 15 million guests, who stayed a total of 36 million nights. Each year hotels alone earn about 4 billion euros, restaurants about 6 billion, trade fairs and exhibitions about 3,5 billion, and the city transport company and airports about 2 billion…
Cafés in Paris are completely different from anything you’ve experienced before. Tiny tables, typical of Paris, with chairs mostly facing the street, good wine, nonchalant waiters… All of it set against the perfect backdrop of old Paris, with six-story buildings and tall windows that exist thanks to Napoleon III and the vision of Baron Haussmann. The French invented the café, so it’s fair to conclude that they’ve been doing it longer and better than anyone else, including us in the Balkans, who love it so much…
